Waterloo Regional Police Charge Cambridge Male in Fatal Drug Overdose

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested and charged a Cambridge man in connection to a fatal drug overdose.

On October 31, 20201, police responded to a home in the area of Coronation Boulevard in Cambridge after receiving a report of a sudden death of an adult male.

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s General Investigations Unit assisted the Coroner’s Office with its death investigation. It was determined that the death was the result of a fentanyl overdose and a criminal investigation commenced.

On February 24, 2022, as a result of the investigation, a search warrant was completed by members of the General Investigations Unit and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) in the area of Wellington Street and Bond Street in Cambridge.

A 41-year-old male from Cambridge was arrested during the search warrant and has been charged with Manslaughter, Criminal Negligence Causing Death and Trafficking (fentanyl) in relation to the death investigation.

The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.
